Alexander Mayrhofer, Head of Research & Development at nic.at GmbH and sister company ipcom GmbH, played a pivotal role in the genesis and development of the RcodeZero DNS Anycast service. In an interview, he explains why the internet is not a friendly space and what can be done to lessen the impact of cyberattacks.
Since December 2020, the RcodeZero DNS Anycast network is protected from DDoS attacks by three independent DDoS mitigation providers on a global scale. After a long evaluation phase, Klaus Darilion, Head of Operations, has chosen Cloudflare's "Magic Transit" product of different providers, because a reliable DDoS defense solution is comparable to an insurance.
The Belgian registry DNS Belgium and ipcom (sister company of nic.at) have signed a cooperation agreement. All domains managed by DNS Belgium will additionally be hosted on the RcodeZero DNS anycast network powered by nic.at. The Belgian registry is responsible for the overall management of .be, .vlaanderen and .brussels with around 1.6 million domains.
